Minimalism while not a new concept (or honestly one I aspire to) has become pretty popular on the Internet. I’ve even seen a few bloggers whose style I admire create seasonal capsule wardrobes with a set number of pieces and remixing them until the next season. Initially I was resistant to the idea of creating a capsule wardrobe myself, but now I’m starting to come around to the idea. I’m feeling pretty uninspired by my wardrobe lately and I wear the same pieces over and over anyway. I would rather have a small group of items I’m really excited about wearing rather than having a bunch of pieces I feel so-so about. I’m pretty anti-clutter, so clothing I don’t wear definitely needs to go. I would rather do some traveling later this year and decorate my new place than blow my non-essential spending money on clothes. The idea of not having flexibility in buying new items makes me a little nervous, but once I nail down my wardrobe for the next season, I probably shouldn’t be shopping any more anyway. If I pull the plug and do spring capsule, expect to see a full recap of my capsule items.
What are your thoughts on capsule wardrobes, yay or nay? If you’ve done a capsule wardrobe before, I’d love to know about your experience!
