In late March/early April I took (what I hope) was my first trip to South Africa! Here are a few pictures of Cape Town from my travelogue.

A highlight of the trip for me was the visit to Table Mountain by Cable Car!

I love tea so it was a given that I’d enjoy high tea at this lovely hotel.

I did not even know there were Penguins in South Africa! I really enjoyed seeing the Penguins despite that being the one and only rainy day during the trip.

The rain continued while visiting this botanical garden. I imagine it’s beautiful during a sunny spring day (it’s currently fall in South Africa).
Robben Island (Where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned)

A very sobering but important experience was seeing the cell Nelson Mandela stayed in during his imprisonment. The gorgeous sunny day juxtaposed with visiting a place with so much pain and sadness was weird. This visit also made me realize I really need to read Nelson Mandela’s memoir…it’s been on my to-read list forever.

I’m not much of a drinker at all but a glass of wine every so often is great. I didn’t find a must-have South African wine brand, but it was a very enjoyable experience on a beautiful, sunny day.
Cape of Good Hope
It was a great trip! There was so much to see in Cape Town, I could have used a few more days to explore more. I’ll share some pictures from my Game Reserve visit in a separate post.
