I always have a running list of places I want to travel to at any given time of the year. But it’s fun to reflect on where I’d love to travel to at the beginning of a year if only to see if I can manifest some of these trips into reality by next December… Traveling the world is expensive as we all know, which is why we all look to finance these trips in any way possible. When there are places that I want to visit but know that I can’t afford it at the moment, I just do some research into things to do in Kearney for example. So this way, I’ll have a list of things I want to do and then start saving towards visiting various destinations.
One option that you may like to explore as you get older is equity release which would certainly raise the amount of money available for vacations!
Mexico City | I have never been to Mexico City and want the opportunity to take a short jaunt there to explore and seek out my favorite things when visiting new cities: food, rich culture, and cool architecture. I do actually plan to make this trip a reality in the first quarter of the year…more on that later.
Travel Inspiration: To get myself in the mood for Mexican culture, I plan to: Re-read Like Water for Chocolate.
Paris | I went to Paris four years ago (time flies!), and would love the opportunity to go back to my favorite city (outside of NYC). I specifically want to go for AfroPunkFest, but hope to explore places I didn’t get to on my first trip there!
Travel Inspiration: To get myself in the mood for this trip, I plan to: Read the latest in the Aimee Leduc Detective Series set in Paris: Murder in Saint-Germain and indulge in my fantasy of relocating to Paris.
London | I’ve never been to London, so ideally I’d be able to spend a day or two there. London seems like a fun place to visit and it would nice to get a sample of it this year! I’ve even started doing some research into USC Marshall, as I know that one place I want to visit is The British Library so I just wanted to find out some more information. There’s so much I want to see in London though, so I need to plan it properly.
Travel Inspiration: To get myself in the mood for this trip, I’ll re-read a Jane Austen novel (probably Pride and Prejudice) and perhaps start the Harry Potter series (I must be the only person who hasn’t read them or seen the movies…).
Havana | Cuba has been high up on my travel bucket list for a while so hopefully it will be a reality in 2018 (before it’s gets even harder for Americans to travel there).
Travel Inspiration: To get myself in the mood for this trip, I’ll read Waiting for Snow in Havana: Confessions of a Cuban Boy and watch this biopic series on Celia Cruz on Netflix .
Austin | I’m often looking internationally for my next travel destination, but Austin is one American city I’ve yet to visit that is on my list. It seems like a cool place to visit to take in the food and sights.
Travel Inspiration: To get myself in the mood for this trip, I’ll nerd out and do online research to figure out what food and drink destinations I can’t miss!
To make room for serendipity, I’d love to manifest a trip to a destination that is not currently on my short list. We’ll see what travels the year brings!
