Happy Saturday! Here’s some reading material to keep you occupied this weekend.

personal style, musings and inspiration
I have had a lifelong love of magazines (print magazines forever!). But I am pretty choosy about the magazines I purchase these days. I’m looking for magazines with fresh voices, representation of women of color, interesting perspectives, and beautiful imagery and stories that inspire me. Here are a few magazines on my radar that I would be willing to invest in as reading material and pretty additions to my coffee table. There are many different types of print magazines for an array of topics if you are interested in making your own print magazine visit somewhere like Printivity and try it out.
Described on their website as “CRWNMAG exists to create a progressive dialogue around natural hair and the women who wear it. We’re reaching beyond trendy clickbait and #BlackGirlMagic to address the whole Black woman; a woman who is more educated, well-traveled and sophisticated than ever before — largely because generations before her have fought to ensure her seat at the table.”
Described on their website as “is an unapologetic celebration of + safe space for Black women.”
Described on their website as “a magazine for those that want to live thoughtfully. We believe in giving thought to what you put in and on your body, and how it affects the environment. We’re an independent publication inspired by nature + design.”
Darling Magazine – described on their social media as “more than a print magazine, Darling redefines beauty & empowers women.”
Described on their website as “an advertising-free women’s magazine on self, identity and meaning in today’s society. Womankind magazine features the top journalists, authors and artists in a 132 page, perfect-bound magazine – offering a signature mix of reporting and commentary on culture, creativity, philosophy, nature and ways to live a more fulfilling life.”
Described on their website as “the healthy living guide for today’s African woman. We began as Nigeria’s first women’s health magazine and have grown globally to reach African women on the continent and across the diaspora as Africa’s leading health magazine.”
I’m looking forward to diving into the latest issues of all of these magazines soon!

I tune into several podcasts on a weekly basis during my commutes, down time, while cooking, and traveling. They have become a staple method of entertainment to keep up with pop-cultural touch tones, to hear in-depth interviews, and learn about subjects that interest me. There are so many podcasts out there, similar to the “This week in Tech Podcast” that you are bound to find one that you can enjoy. Perhaps some people could consider visiting Likewise for other podcast recommendations. Everyone will find something that interests them, so be sure to do some research and see what other people are listening to. Now, while I stay faithful to the podcasts on my previous round-up, here are a few podcasts I’ve added to the list since then.

I’m not gonna lie. I’m deep in my feelings over the state of our country politically. But I’m ready to turn the page and move on to productivity, hope, creativity, resistance, and action. Love and light to you if you too are feeling sadness and an assortment of other emotions right now.
After falling down a ‘YouTube rabbit hole’ and watching several tutorial videos, I decided to try using a Bullet Journal this year. I have a habit of writing down important info and lists I want to reference later on post-its… and of course I misplace the post-its or find I don’t have room to write everything on them and therefore make a dozen of them #notefficient. I need to break this habit in 2017! Not familiar with what a Bullet Journal is? Bullet Journals are a customized organization system. A Bullet Journal can be your to-do list, sketchbook, notebook, and diary. Bullet Journals can get quite involved with using stationery such as pens, various colored markers, templates, and detailed illustrations. Or you can go the more utilitarian route and keep it simple! So what does a Bullet Journal typically include? Read on to find out.
