Current Beauty Favorites Winter Edition

January 10, 2018

I’m a beauty and skincare loyalist: I find products that work for me and I don’t really deviate. When the seasons change, I evaluate what works and add or subtract things based on the weather: Winter means more moisturizing and trying to add a bit of glow to my skin during these cold winter months. With that in mind, here are the current products in my rotation.

My Go-To Oils for Hair and Skincare

June 8, 2017

From a very young age I remember seeing my mother apply oils to her skin on a regular basis. I never really thought much of it. But as I get older and more aware of the toxins in many skincare products, I find myself resorting to using primarily oils for all of my hair, face and body moisturizing needs. Something else that I have been seeing a lot of lately that I would like to give a mention to is cbd oil. I’ve noticed the growing popularity of cbd skincare products and I watch a number of YouTubers who swear by oils like this, especially when it comes to skincare and managing the buildup of dandruff on their scalp. The good thing about wanting to experiment with various skincare products is that because of the internet, it has never been easier to get your hands on what you want. A quick look into finding cbd oil online is all you need. When it comes to trying out natural oils, they may do more wonders than you think, but you won’t know unless you try. You don’t have to wait until you head into town to pick up what you want, especially as products such as cbd oil cannot be found just anywhere. If this is something that you think you would like to give a go, these are the best CBD oils in the UK. It’s worth doing your research into anything new that you are not familiar with, especially when it comes to your skin and hair. Anyway, here is a list of the go-to oils I use on a regular basis on my skin and hair.

February Recent Beauty + Skincare Buys

February 7, 2017

I’m pretty loyal to skincare and make-up products but I’ve been using a few newer items that I’ve had some success with. Some of them are from Japan, some of them are from America, some from the UK. When it comes to skincare, I do also love trying out new products. I’ve seen a lot of people I follow online and on YouTube incorporate CBD & skincare, as it is in demand right now. Additionally, I’ve come across so many brands that I’ve never heard of before, but I have a feeling that a lot of them are promising. There’s sites like AbodyCandle.com that I still need to check out, but from what I’ve heard from others, I am very hopeful. This is why I love skincare because some things that work for some people, don’t work for others. This means that skin care is so personalized to you as an individual, you have to find products that actually work for you. For example, one of my friends recently told me about using cbd skin care products, apparently it helps with anti-aging, and she finds it works for her skin. There’s so much to skincare and there’s always something new to try. Finding products that you love is so difficult to do nowadays, especially with new products coming out daily!

But here are my most recent beauty and skincare buys.

Eden Bodyworks All Natural Cleansing CoWash – This moisturizing cowash comes in handy on week nights when doing a lengthy wash/deep conditioning treatment will simply take too long. This effective cowash cleanses my hair well and has a nice light scent.

RMS Master Mixer – Adding a subtle blow to your face is key year-round but particularly during the winter months. I’m not big on wearing a lot of make-up on most days (my make-up routine takes no more than 5 min). But this RMS Master Mixer adds a minor touch to my eyelids or anywhere else I want to highlight.

Jade Facial Roller – Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been trying the ancient Chinese tradition of jade rolling. It’s purported to have various benefits but I haven’t been doing it long enough to observe any changes yet. But I do like beauty rituals, so I’ll keep using it.

Glossier Boy Brow – This brow tamer puts my brows in place particularly when I am between brow threading appointments and my brows are thicker than usual.

The Lip Bar Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bawse Lady – This was actually a gift from my Mom, but I like it so much, I’ve included it. I’d gotten out of the habit of wearing lipstick on a regular basis, but I like this deep red color so much, I’ve started wearing it regularly. I can’t wait to try other shades from this brand.

The Takesumi Detox Deodorant – I’ve been using natural deodorants since last summer and have found quite a few effective ones but this is just the latest in the rotation. This was actually a small sample version, so time will tell if I repurchase. Btw, I love this deodorant but it’s pretty pricey to buy on a regular basis.

Winter Beauty Favorites

Alba Hawaiian Facial Wash | Freeman Pineapple Enzyme Face Mask | Sephora Sleeping Mask – Rose | Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist | Burt’s Bees Acne Solution Spot Treatment Cream | Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme | Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturizer | M61 Hydraboost Eye | S.W. Basics Cream | Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil | Anastasia Brow Definer | Josie Maran Argan Oil | Josie Maran Highlighter Stick | Laura Mercier Concealer – Color 5 | Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer – Walnut | Essie Nail Polish – After School Boy Blazer | Nars Blush – Coral with Shimmer| Benefit Rollerball Mascara | Sephora Highlight Lowlight Face Countour Duo – Deep | Smashbox Under Eye Primer

Here are my winter skincare and make-up staples. Some items are tried and true, some are newer.  The ongoing quest for a tinted moisturizer that matches my skin tone is paused for now, at least until the summer when I’ll need a darker shade.  Laura Mercier Walnut is a great match for this time of year for me.  Olive Oil and Coconut Oil are not pictured but remain my favorite night time moisturizers and make-up removers. Magnesium Oil is more of a health addition than beauty but I included it because it’s a topical.  More info on the importance of magnesium here.  My beauty favorites from last summer are here.
