Podcasts to Listen to Now – Part IV

February 27, 2018

Podcasts remain my go-to way to while away my commute time. Every few months I’m adding and sometimes subtracting defunct podcasts from my list. In case you are looking for some interesting podcasts to add to your queue, see my current must-listen list below.

Thirst Aid Kit – This podcast is like the best of the exhaustive convos you’d have with your single friends (when you actually have the time) about your crushes. I love the fact that they write a piece of fan fic for each episode that listeners can weigh in on to choose their favorites. I’m not even gonna admit how long I spent scrolling through the podcast’s Tumblr…Must-Listen Episode: Can’t Choose One…Listen to the entire first season!

On She Goes – It’ not so easy to find travel and lifestyle content that revolves specifically around women of color and that’s why I enjoy this podcast. The short vignettes of travel tips from a women of color perspective and and interviews of women of color have definitely inspired me to add a few destinations to my travel bucket list. Must-Listen Episode: Season 2 Episode I Can’t Get My Hair Wet

Hey Girl Podcast – Self-care, inspiring and sometimes poignant stories on loss, love and everything in between from interviewees, encompass this podcast. I’ve been following Alex Elle on IG for a while and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy her thoughtfully done podcast. Must-Listen Episode: Episode 16: Dana on Self-Awareness Through Yoga

The Naked Beauty Podcast Hosted by Brooke Devard – Beauty, Fashion, Skincare are some of my favorite content topics so of course I’d enjoy this podcast that revolves around those topics! Brooke, the host of this podcast has really interesting guests. Must-Listen Episode: Moving Beyond #BlackGirlMagic Ft. Lindsey Day (Founder of CRWN Magazine)

The Nod – This podcast ells the stories of Black life that don’t get told anywhere else. These podcast episodes are well produced and I usually end up learning some little known fact about notable figures in history. Must-Listen Episode: Ready, Set Buy Black

5 Podcasts to Listen to Now – Part II

January 24, 2017

I tune into several podcasts on a weekly basis during my commutes, down time, while cooking, and traveling. They have become a staple method of entertainment to keep up with pop-cultural touch tones, to hear in-depth interviews, and learn about subjects that interest me. There are so many podcasts out there, similar to the “This week in Tech Podcast” that you are bound to find one that you can enjoy. Perhaps some people could consider visiting Likewise for other podcast recommendations. Everyone will find something that interests them, so be sure to do some research and see what other people are listening to. Now, while I stay faithful to the podcasts on my previous round-up, here are a few podcasts I’ve added to the list since then.

5 Podcasts to Listen to Now

July 25, 2015

5 podcasts

I recently sent a friend with a long work commute a list of podcasts I’m listening to lately, so I figured I’d share them here as well as an update from my previous list since I’ve added and subtracted a few podcasts since then. They’re amazing things, podcasts. They have the ability to completely transform you into a new world, enabling you to learn about new things along the way. It comes as no surprise that many businesses are now deciding to enlist the help of a podcast producer to help create their own. As many people are now listening to them on their commute home, it will be a great way for businesses to get themselves on the map to market their own products and services. I’d definitely make this decision if I was a business owner. And telling your friends about them is another way to get your business recognized. What could be better? So, anyway, find out about some of my favorite podcasts below.

Screen Shot 2015-07-25 at 11.42.59 AMAnother Round with Heben & Tracy – Buzzfeed staff writers Heben (pronounced Heaven) and Tracy interview cool people over drinks and offer advice to listeners on topics like pop culture, race and politics. Another Round is one podcast I download to listen to soon after it’s posted. If you like the tone of their articles on Buzzfeed, then you’ll like this podcast.

Must-Listen Episode: Episode 12: Casual Negro Spirituals

Screen Shot 2015-07-25 at 11.42.23 AMSo Money with Farnoosh Torabi – Personal Finance can be like your least favorite vegetable, you know you should have it in your life, but you’d happily ignore its existence if it was possible. Unfortunately, it’s not. The world of personal finance is continuously evolving, so much so, that you may be left wondering kannattaako bitcoiniin sijoittaa (whether it is worth investing in bitcoin) because you want to utilize another way of making more money. The more money you have, the less financial stress you will have going forward and isn’t that what we all want? Perhaps you’re trying to get yourself out of debt or you’re wondering what are the best trading apps uk to use when making investments, whatever your query, this podcast may help. Farnoosh helps to de-mystify all things personal finance by giving straight-forward advice and interviewing dynamic and accomplished people on their lives and money habits on a weekly basis. You can even augment this one with these 8 tricks to improve your finances to really improve things for you. You can totally listen to this podcast at random because all of the episodes are pretty interesting.

Must-listen Episode: 157 Seth Godin on Life’s Riches and Making an Impact

Screen Shot 2015-07-25 at 11.44.43 AM#MyTaughtYou – I don’t even know what prompted me to start following Myleik, founder of CurlBox on Instagram, but her feed is a go-to place for personal and professional inspiration when I’m surfing Insta. It’s only natural that I’d like her podcast. Myleik offers great, honest advice and isn’t afraid to talk about her own mistakes.

Must-listen Episode: Why Discipline > Motivation!

Mystery Show – This is actually the newest addition to my podcast queue. In an iTunes review, this podcast was described as “This American Life meets Nancy Drew” and this is definitely an appropriate description. Host, Starlee Kine solves mysteries deemed “unsolvable” typically without much help from the Internet. It’s a quirky podcast that makes for great listening while commuting or cooking.

Must-Listen Episode: Case #2 Britney

CYGCall Your Girlfriend – Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow, two best friends who live in different cities talk on a biweekly basis on topics related to pop culture, feminism, periods, and long distance friendship. This podcast covers lighthearted and more serious topics that we all talk about with our besties whether they live down the street from us or across the country.

Must-listen Episode: Summah Summahtime XXL

My love for podcasts hasn’t wavered and I see them being apart of my media consumption for a long time to come. What are your favorite must-listen podcasts these days?

Instead of “binge watching” my latest favorite TV show on Netflix, I’ve taken to “binge-listening” to podcasts on a variety of topics. Podcasts are certainly not a new concept, but lately, I’ve found them to be a great source of entertainment and inspiration while doing tasks that don’t require heavy concentration. Here is a list of my current favorite podcasts and why you may like them too.
