Links of the Week: June 10, 2017

June 10, 2017

As a voracious reader on and off of the Internet, I love reading the link roundups of others…it’s why I continue to do my own. There’s usually something new to learn from the articles and posts someone else curates. Here are the current links on my radar I’d like to share.

  • How to save money in two months.
  • A guide to developing a discipline habit.
  • Some cute pottery I’d love to add to my cabinet.
  • Definitely attending this.
  • I can’t wait to see this movie.
  • I plan to try all of these gluten free, vegan breakfast recipes.
  • I like this wallpaper trick and will definitely give it a try.
  • The best Glossier products for dark brown skin.
  • A calming elixir recipe to try.
  • 5 ways to boost gut health.
  • I definitely want to try this ice cream recipe.
  • I’m on the adaptogen bandwagon, so I like these tips.

On My Radar: Print Magazines

February 4, 2017

I have had a lifelong love of magazines (print magazines forever!). But I am pretty choosy about the magazines I purchase these days. I’m looking for magazines with fresh voices, representation of women of color, interesting perspectives, and beautiful imagery and stories that inspire me. Here are a few magazines on my radar that I would be willing to invest in as reading material and pretty additions to my coffee table. There are many different types of print magazines for an array of topics if you are interested in making your own print magazine visit somewhere like Printivity and try it out.

CRWN Magazine

Described on their website as “CRWNMAG exists to create a progressive dialogue around natural hair and the women who wear it. We’re reaching beyond trendy clickbait and #BlackGirlMagic to address the whole Black woman; a woman who is more educated, well-traveled and sophisticated than ever before — largely because generations before her have fought to ensure her seat at the table.”

Hannah Magazine

Described on their website as “is an unapologetic celebration of + safe space for Black women.”

Thoughtfully Magazine

Described on their website as “a magazine for those that want to live thoughtfully. We believe in giving thought to what you put in and on your body, and how it affects the environment. We’re an independent publication inspired by nature + design.”

Darling Magazine – described on their social media as “more than a print magazine, Darling redefines beauty & empowers women.”

Womankind Magazine

Described on their website as “an advertising-free women’s magazine on self, identity and meaning in today’s society. Womankind magazine features the top journalists, authors and artists in a 132 page, perfect-bound magazine – offering a signature mix of reporting and commentary on culture, creativity, philosophy, nature and ways to live a more fulfilling life.”

Radiant Health Magazine

Described on their website as “the healthy living guide for today’s African woman. We began as Nigeria’s first women’s health magazine and have grown globally to reach African women on the continent and across the diaspora as Africa’s leading health magazine.”

I’m looking forward to diving into the latest issues of all of these magazines soon!

Spring Reading List + Recent Reads

Spring Reading List

I make reading lists throughout the year, but I especially like making them around this time of year as we are all prepping for summer travel, vacations and staycations. In case you are looking for book list inspiration, I thought I’d share my latest seasonal reading list and my thoughts on some recent reads. Of course, these are just my recommendations. You could always consider looking for an online book club to give you some suggestions too. That would ensure that you find a range of different genres for your travels. Hopefully, you’ll be able to find some new books either way.
