My Go-To Matcha Latte Recipe

January 25, 2018

I’m a big routine person and that love for routine extends to my morning drink of choice: Matcha Lattes! Frankly, I started drinking Matcha before it got trendy and could easily be found in many coffee shops. I also don’t by any means prepare it the traditional Japanese way, but it’s warm, comforting, and doesn’t leave me jittery like coffee. It also tastes pretty good with ice during the summer. Matcha is rich in antioxidants, has free radical-scavenging activity and encourages your body’s natural detoxification systems.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 teaspoon Matcha Powder (I typically order it online)
  • 1 teaspoon Ashwagandha (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Maca Powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut Butter
  • 1 cup of your Milk or Milk of choice (I use Coconut Milk)
  • 1 teaspoon of Honey or other sweetener of choice (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add dry ingredients to a high powered blender.
  2. Add 1/3 cup of your Milk of Choice, Coconut Butter, and Honey to the blender.
  3. Heat 1 cup of water let cool slightly then add to blender.
  4. Blend all ingredients for a few seconds to combine.
  5. Pour ingredients into your cup.

Easy Homemade Nut Milk Recipe

June 12, 2016

Milk Image - UnsplashNut milk has become increasingly popular recently, especially considering how many people are changing their ordinary diets to one which is plant-based. With the enormity of veganism, there was a definite need for more plant-based kinds of milk and now those have been provided. Since the Nut milk (typically Almond milk) was one of those staples I’d purchase from the store on a weekly basis until I realized earlier this year that it’s so easy to make on your own. Since making it for the first time in early spring, I’ve tried variations using cashews as well that worked nicely (will soon try pecans, coconut and hazelnuts). To make the milk, I did have to look for specific blenders for making vegan food because I found that my generic blender just wasn’t as powerful as it should be and it wasn’t giving me the results I was hoping for. Now, with a new blender, making suitable milk is easy! Read on for tips on how to make your own, I hesitate to call this an actual recipe because it’s so easy.

Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cookies

You probably can’t tell from this post, but most of the time, I really try to stick to a balanced diet and be reasonable about my sweet tooth.  If I were gonna bake something this weekend, I’d take inspiration from these recipes and attempt to make grain and refined sugar free versions that are no are no less cute but a tad bit healthier.

Recipe to Try – Guacamole

FSTG-Chips-+-Guacamole-1 copy

As a final farewell to summer, I decided to try my hand at making guacamole and pairing it with Food Should Taste Good’s Multigrain Chips.  I had actually never tried to make guacamole before.   In hindsight this seems strange to me because of my love of both chips and avocados…
