Current Favorites – Early Spring 2018

March 28, 2018

I can’t believe March is over! It really flew by. Here is a round up of my favorites from the month.

Four Sigmatic Coffee – Lions Mane & Chaga – I can’t drink coffee on a daily basis, but when I do drink it at home and not in a coffee shop, I like Four Sigmatic Mushroom Coffee. If you want to find out more, check out this Four Sigmatic mushroom coffee review!

Vatika Oil (Coconut Hair Oil) – I’ve rediscovered how much I like using Vatika oil as a pre-poo treatment before washing my hair. Vatika Oil is basically coconut oil with Henna and other herbs mixed in that you can purchase from your local Indian Grocery Store or online.

Curls Lavish Curls Spray Moisturizer -I’m always on the hunt for leave in conditioning sprays for refreshing my hair for twisting and styling. This is my current go-to.

Giada Braided Faux Leather Satchel – Sole Society – I’ve given my go-to black tote a rest and am using a gray one in honor of lightening up colors for Spring.

50mm Round Sunglasses Nordstrom I’ve found that round sunglasses suit my face shape, I wore round sunnies like this on my trip earlier this month to Mexico City.

The Kyoto Earrings – One Story – Moorea Seal Store – I’m loving statement gold earrings like these lately. They go with everything and look nice with hairstyles of all types.

Pacifica Island Vanilla Perfume – I’m still on a quest for a signature scent for Spring and Summer, I don’t think this one is the one I’ll land on but I still like it.

River Island Tailored Boy Blazer – Yellow – ASOS – So I don’t have this specific blazer, I actually dyed a blazer myself a bright yellow and have been wearing it regularly this month to brighten up my wardrobe despite the fact that it’s too early in the season to wear my warm weather favorites.

Palo Santo – I’ve taken to lighting some Palo Santo to cleanse the energy of myself and my home on a regular basis.

Black and White Simplicity

Black + White Simplicity 1

Skirt: Nordstrom | Top: Marshalls | Shoes: Shoemint | Wrap: The Wrap Life | Bag: Philly accessories store, now closed | Sunnies: F21

Long time no blog!  I didn’t mean to take such an extended hiatus, but blog hosting woes, a demanding new job, and settling into my new place in DC really took my energy and attention for the past several weeks. But I wasn’t ready to throw in the towel on my blog as much as my blogging woes made me consider it.

On another note: Do you wanna know my weekend trick for getting out of the door fast?  I stick to basic separates and forgo styling my hair by rocking a head wrap (or hat).  I forgo my makeup routine by wearing sunnies and red lipstick. Spring weather makes simple styling like this easier because I don’t need several layers to stay warm.  Do you have any weekend styling tricks?

Spring Hair Inspiration: Red Tones

Spring Hair - Red

Images: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4

I’m pretty risk averse when it comes to major changes to my hair. But the arrival of a new season is a good reason change things up. After flipping through DIY Dye: Bright and Funky Temporary Hair Coloring You Do At Home, I was thinking of temporarily going red, or at least reddish. The book outlines techniques such as bleaching, hair chalking, and Henna, among others. I don’t see myself adding hair dye to my hair anytime soon, but I will definitely try a Henna application process similar to the one outlined in the book. I’d be interested to know, have you ever tried henna hair dye? As much as I like the bright tones of the inspiration photos above, I’d go for a much more subtle look in reality. Maybe a reddish tone that is only apparent in direct sunlight (like the top right photo). I’ll keep you guys posted if I feel inspired to try something more dramatic!

What do you think: Yay or Nay to red? And are you planning any hair changes this Spring?

Note: The book DIY Dye was provided by the publisher.
